Edgar Bąk is one of the most gifted Polish graphic designers today. In 2022, he designed “Chaos” for Splot, which has become a modern classic of Polish kilims and has found its way both into the hearts of our clients and in the collections of Polish museums, such as the Silesian Museum in Katowice as well as the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź.
„The Vertigo” kilim with its open composition refers both to the sensibility of op art, and to the distant echoes of vibrant Hutsul textiles that were fashionable in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Characteristic of his style, Edgar Bąk used an elementary geometric figure – in this case, the quadrilateral – to build a complex pattern that seems to create a spatial effect. Surprisingly there is a method to this madness!
